How does the PARKIS bike lift work?
The PARKIS bike lift is an entirely mechanical device that allows you to store your bike vertically. Once a bike's front wheel is rolled into the dolly, it automatically grabs the wheel and lifts it, powered by springs. Descending is soft and fast - when the bike's front wheel reaches ground level, it is automatically released from the dolly. Please see the video.
Is it easy to install PARKIS bike lift?
Yes, it is. No measurements are required! Just lean your PARKIS to a wall and fasten it with four screws (included). This takes about a minute of your precious time for a wooden wall and up to 5 minutes for a masonry wall. Here you can find the installation video. More info in user manual.
Does PARKIS need any maintenance?
PARKIS is maintenance-free; however, we recommend deactivating the lift if it is not used for months. Please consult the user manual for more information.
Is PARKIS a good choice for electric bikes?
Yes, PARKIS is an excellent option for storing e-bikes vertically. It is particularly beneficial for heavier bikes, as their rear wheel always remains on the ground. That means that only half of the bike's weight needs to be raised, making the parking process smooth and effortless.
Is it as easy to take a bike from PARKIS bike lift, as it is to park it in?
Yes! It only takes the same tiny amount of effort to park a bike, or take it back!
What is the difference between PARKIS and a bike rack or a hook?
PARKIS is designed to lift a bike vertically, distinguishing it from traditional bike racks or hooks. All our models are fully automatic, so users do not need to secure a bike wheel on a hook before lifting, as is required by similar systems. Lifting or retrieving a bike takes only seconds, even for heavy e-bikes!
Can I mount PARKIS anywhere?
PARKIS is designed to be mounted on a wall. It can also be attached to other firm structures, such as a balcony rail or other support. The lower end of the bike lift profile must always rest on the floor. We suggest installing PARKIS inside or outside under the shelter to avoid direct precipitation.
How much weight can the PARKIS bike lift hold?
The PARKIS bike lift can handle bikes weighing up to 30 kg (66 lbs). That suits most standard bicycles, including e-bikes, MTB bikes, or road bikes. The bike's rear wheel always remains on the ground, so only the front part of the bike is lifted during use, which is essential for easy use. For more details, you can explore the product parameters.
Does PARKIS lock my bike and protect against theft?
PARKIS is the bicycle lift. To lock a bike over a frame (using a regular bike lock), we recommend installing the Locking Loop or Locking Gates accessories.
How does PARKIS help save space?
Vertical bike parking saves at least 40% of floor space dedicated to bike storage. Using several PARKIS, you can park your bikes surprisingly close to each other—40 cm (16 inches). That way, you will save even more space with every installed lift. For more information, please visit the SPACE-SAVING page. Your bike will always be in its place with PARKIS and will not hinder anyone!
Does PARKIS fit my bike?
PARKIS fits the majority of popular bicycle models. However, there are a few exceptions which would indicate it might not fit your bicycle. You are welcome to use our guide to choose the suitable PARKIS model for your bike.
How to fit several bicycle lifts?
That's easy! This calculator will help you visualize and find the optimal distances between PARKIS bike lifts.
Is PARKIS safe for kids?
Safety is our top priority. Therefore, an adult's presence is highly recommended when children use PARKIS.
Can PARKIS be installed and used in public places?
Yes. We recommend choosing the City model with the Locking Loop accessory for public installations. It is reinforced and equipped with a magnetic resilience system that minimizes the consequences of vandalism. At the same time, it has a soft and handy design. Other models also can be used in public areas. In public places, these models must be installed with the Locking Gates accessory which allows locking and leaving bikes and protects PARKIS from unintended damage. The most popular locks can be used to lock your bike over a frame if the Locking Loop or Locking Gates accessories are installed.
There is no reseller in my country. How can I purchase PARKIS products?
No problem, we ship worldwide, please visit our e-shop.
Can I install PARKIS somewhere higher on the wall or near a ceiling?
No. The bottom end of the PARKIS profile (the long part) must touch the floor. PARKIS lifts the bicycle to its length, and the rear wheel always stays on the ground.
Can I use PARKIS in my van, campervan/motorhome?
Yes! A bicycle FRAME HOLDER accessory is recommended for PARKIS installation into vehicles. It stabilizes the frame when the vehicle is moving. It is especially beneficial for long-distance bike transportation.
What if my bike has long mudguards (fenders), but I still want to use PARKIS lift?
There are several options: *replace the long mudguard with a shorter one *remove the mudguard *shorten the mudguard *put some obstacle on the floor, preventing the rear wheel from going further than necessary, so the mudguard does not scratch the floor. We do not like this method because it reduces a bike's stability in a vertical position, but some customers apply it.
How about pivoting PARKIS?
Since the rear wheel always stays on the ground, a pivoting function is unavailable. However, the ANGLE EXTENSION accessory enables installing PARKIS at a 48-degree angle.
Is there a PARKIS version suitable for a tandem bike?
The Basic or Stainless Steel model can be upgraded to a tandem version. The upgrade price is 75 EUR per unit. To ensure your tandem bike fits the tandem version of PARKIS, please see "Tandem Version" in the parameters comparison chart. Also, please ensure that your tandem bike fits vertically in the space where you would like to install PARKIS! To order the tandem version of PARKIS, please contact us.
Is there a PARKIS version suitable for a cargo bike?
While we have developed a PARKIS version for tandem bikes, which are similar to cargo bikes by length, we do not recommend using it for heavy cargo bike storage. The main reason is safety - heavy weight lifting is dangerous for users.
What is the most space-efficient way to store bikes?
The most space-efficient way to store bikes depends on the available space and whether you want the bikes to be easily accessible or just stored compactly. Vertical bike parking strikes a balance between space-saving and quick access to stored bikes. However, lifting a bicycle (especially heavy e-bikes) to a vertical position is quite a challenge, preventing most users from choosing this space-saving method. The answer is a bike lift, which does the hard part of the job. Fully automatic PARKIS bike lifts require only seconds to park or retrieve even heavy bicycles.
How much space is needed for vertical bike storage?
The space needed for vertical bike storage depends on the bike's dimensions. Here's an estimate for the most popular bike dimensions stored vertically: Height: 180 cm (71 inches) Width: 61 cm (24 inches) Depth (dist. from a wall): 120 cm (47 inches) When using the PARKIS bike lift, the width used for several bike parking can be reduced by 50% to 40 cm. That is possible when every second bike lift is installed at a distance from a wall, ensuring the handlebars pass freely. This way, you can park or take every bike from the middle of stored bikes, even if stored at every 40 cm. Vertical bike storage is an excellent choice for compact spaces like garages, closets or hallways.
What is the best way to store bikes in a garage?
The best way to store bikes in a garage depends on the available space, how often the bikes are used, and the number of bikes you need to store. Here are three distinct options: ceiling mount - most space efficient, but a bike is less accessible; floor mount - a bike is easily accessible but least space-efficient; wall mount - a moderate space-efficient method whose bike accessibility depends on a device type. Most wall-mount bike storage solutions require bike lifting to a vertical position. That is a challenge for many bikers, especially those riding e-bikes. This problem is solved with an entirely automatic bike lift, PARKIS, which helps you to park or retrieve even a heavy bicycle in seconds. Best overall setup for most garages: Use vertical wall mounts or freestanding racks for daily-use bikes. Install ceiling storage for long-term or seasonal storage if floor space is unavailable. Add a small cabinet or shelf nearby for helmets, locks, and accessories. This setup balances efficiency, accessibility and organization.
